Vote for North Carolina in the AASHTO Transportation Awards
The North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA) is currently in the running for AASHTO’s 2025 People’s Choice Award for last year’s opening of the 540 Southern Wake freeway, also known as “Complete 540, Phase 1”.
For the next month until November 17th, you can vote once per day, per device, for Complete 540 Phase 1 on AASHTO’s website.
If selected, the NCTA will be awarded $10,000 to be donated to a charity or scholarship fund of their choosing. Please consider sharing with your friends and co-workers.
540 in southern Wake County has been game changing for commuters, residents, suppliers, and visitors across our market, and it will only get even better when the final section of the roadway (540 Eastern Wake freeway, or Complete 540, Phase 2) opens in just a few years.
Let’s give this new, transformative project in southern Wake County the recognition it deserves, by voting often (daily).
Kudos to the NC Turnpike Authority and NCDOT for this accomplishment, and thank you to the Capital Area MPO, and all public and private partners who have made this vital roadway a reality. The region has made a targeted, vital investment in its mobility future via accelerated, direct funding of the 540 freeway via toll revenue. We will need more of this going forward — that is, more toll-funded and financed infrastructure — for our growing market.
