Member Briefing: September 16, 2022

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

Register for RTA Regional Transit Awareness day.

We now have around 60 people signed up to attend our first-ever RTA Regional Transit Awareness day, which we are holding in concert with several of our transit partners on Thursday, September 29. A number of elected officials, transportation leaders, and members of the business and broader community have registered to attend the event.

Attendees will have an opportunity to experience both train and bus modes of travel together across our metropolitan area, along with a series of briefings. Please register now, as space is limited. Please email Jacob for more details.

JetBlue could become the 5th largest airline in the America

Earlier this summer, JetBlue and Spirit reached an agreement to merge, pending US regulatory approval, which would create the fifth largest commercial passenger airline in America. This week’s blog provides some details and links about the proposed acquisition of ultra-low cost carrier Spirit by JetBlue. Both airlines serve RDU International, although there are no common destinations from our airport served by both JetBlue and Sprirt.

Imagine all the transportation

Paul Kane, who leads the Homebuilders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, coordinates a periodic podcast on various topics related to growth in our region. I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Paul for his “Imagine Wake” podcast. If you have some drive time available, please listen to the podcast and let me know your thoughts!

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to regional business leadership on mobility.

Let’s get moving,

Joe
RTA Executive Director
