Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
RTA breakfast is next month — reserve your spot today
The next major RTA event is our annual RTA Transportation Breakfast, presented by the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, on Friday, July 22, 2022. One or more ticket(s) are included with your membership depending on your membership level. We have a fantastic agenda as we meld our region’s strengths in life science with innovations in transportation during the session. Please connect with my colleague Jacob to confirm the number of included seats, how to order additional tickets, and opportunities to sponsor the event.
Bicycling, Walking, and safety
Earlier this month, I traveled to Acadia National Park in Maine with my family. One of the highlights of our trip was renting electric assist bicycles to travel on the carriage roads. They were truly a game changing way to see more of the park and the nearby harbor towns.
Inspired by this recent e-bike experience, your colleagues at RTA are highlighting some safety tips for both pedestrians and bicyclists tips from the City of Raleigh. We referenced several of these in this week’s RTA blog:
- Always look both ways before crossing.
- When crossing streets or entering any potentially dangerous situation, engage all your senses and mitigate any distractions like mobile phones.
- Wear reflective gear when cycling at night.
- Wear a helmet
- Reduce distractions while cycling.
- Obey all stop lights and traffic signs.
These are good to keep in mind as the Triangle continues to explore and implement alternative forms of transportation, including the steps needed to remain safe and share the road.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication to regional business leadership on mobility.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
