RTA 2026 brunch event:  registration included for all RTA members, but only if you register

A reminder to register for our RTA 2026 Transportation Brunch event, which will be held on Friday morning, August 7, at the Westin RDU Airport hotel.

One or more tickets are included with your RTA membership — but only if you register, as space is limited.

Last year’s event sold out, so reserve your seats today. Contact Alea Morales to register, and reach out to Jacob Rigg with any other questions about the event.

A Needed Focus on Midtown Raleigh

Earlier this week, our friends at the Midtown Raleigh Alliance (MRA) held an excellent forum on transportation issues in the Midtown and North Hills area of Raleigh.  Presenters included multiple leaders from the City of Raleigh, including Kenneth Ritchie and Het Patel from the city’s transportation and transit units, as well as Emile Hartmann, the MRA executive director. The Triangle Business Journal had a nice article on the session, including the City’s focus on a future midtown bridge that would cross the I-440 Beltline without an interchange, thereby creating an alternative pathway that would both avoid and relieve the Six Forks and Wake Forest Rd interchanges.

I was pleased to moderate the discussion and offer a broad regional perspective. RTA has several leadership team members in the Midtown area and we are committed to working with our partners to advocate for vital transportation solutions.

Thank you to our colleagues at MRA for putting on the event, and we appreciate the partnership with RTA Leadership Team member the City of Raleigh as they work to improve mobility in the midtown area and across the capital city.

Finally — there is the potential for congestion due to the Stanley Cup championship parade in Downtown Raleigh. As we note in this week’s blog, this is the one kind of congestion we want.

This week’s blog also provides updates from the Hurricanes, the City of Raleigh, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, and the Governor’s office about transportation logistics and transit alternatives.

Let’s Go Canes, and Let’s get moving,

Joe
