An outstanding BRT / FAST / SMART meeting

Earlier this week, RTA Leadership Team member SAS hosted the second RTA-NCDOT BRT/FAST/SMART Team meeting, an initiative of the I-40 Regional Partnership.
The agenda included outstanding presentations from several RTA Gold member firms: VHB, Kimley-Horn, HDR, and WSP, and HDR, about ways to accelerate the delivery of BRT in our market.
We also heard from RTA members AECOM and WSP about transit priority opportunities for I-40 and the ongoing FAST study, respectively, along with the City of Raleigh about the New Bern Avenue BRT project.
NCDOT leaders, who are managing the FAST study, offered comments in support of advancing transit solutions for our market.
In addition, we announced a new I-40 Rapid, Scalable Implementation task force in concert with NCDOT. The purpose of the group will be to explore and recommend strategic goals for I-40, and then align these recommendations with anticipated funding opportunities, stakeholder priorities, and long-term regional growth.
