Member Briefing: May 3, 2019

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

RTA one-hour litter sweep is tomorrow – RSVP and join us
In last week’s blog we mentioned the many benefits – aesthetic, experience, and safety – of cleaner roadways. This Saturday, May 4, from 9 am to 10 am, we will do a joint litter sweep of the I-40 exit 287/Harrison Avenue interchange ramps in concert with the State Highway Patrol and RTA Leadership Team member firm The Umstead Hotel and Spa. We will meet at 9 am in the Umstead parking lot near the events entrance for a safety briefing and work together for about one hour. Please email me or Natalie for details and to sign-up; NC SHP will take some photos and/or video for future litter sweep campaigns. Thank you in advance to any members who can assist.

NCDOT has a project fair this Monday evening
The NC Department of Transportation is hosting an open-house meeting this Monday, May 6, to provide details and answer questions about transportation projects in Wake County. You can drop-in any time between 4 pm and 7 pm at the McKimmon Center to learn more about projects including the upcoming widening of I-440, US 70 conversion to freeway, US 64 west improvements, and more. The full list of featured projects and additional details are here.

RDU business briefing is May 20
During this week’s Thursday Thoughts at 3p blog, I noted that we have more carriers, more destinations, more flights, and simply more air travel options than ever before. There’s only one problem: RDU does not currently have a sustainable funding source to pay for all of its identified needs going forward. Learn more – and how the business community can help – at our RTA Business Briefing in concert with RDU Airport. We have almost sold out; you can register here, please email me or Natalie with questions. Your membership in RTA provides the business focus needed to advance regional mobility. Thank you for your support!

Let’s get moving,

Joe
