A new month means construction of BRT in North Carolina

Last Tuesday afternoon, July 2, BRT moved forward in Raleigh.

The Raleigh City Council voted unanimously to approve the western (area 1) contract of the New Bern Avenue BRT, from the block surrounding GoRaleigh station east to Poole Road. This is a vital milestone as construction will now begin this year. See more about the approval in this week’s blog

 

RTA Brunch is FAST approaching — revised list of speakers, registration deadline 

You can learn more about BRT construction — as well as the regionwide FAST 2.0 transit study of ways accelerate the implementation of an enhanced regional Freeway, Arterial, Street, and Tactical-based (FAST) transit system — at next month’s RTA brunch event.

One or more tickets are included with your RTA membership, so please plan to join more than 300 regional business and civic leaders for the annual summer meeting of the metropolitan Triangle’s regional business leadership group on transportation.  Email Alea Morales with your confirmed attendee(s) for the event no later than July 31, 2025 — please note that space is limited so we urge you to register your attendance as soon as possible.

This year’s brunch event will be held in concert with the I-40 Regional Partnership — a cooperative initiative of RTA and NCDOT with other area partners, founded 15 years ago to provide an ongoing focus on I-40 for travel and commerce. The event will focus on the FAST transit study includes recommendations to connect our region’s 10 proposed BRT corridors together via transit priority infrastructure, including linkages to RTP and RDU Airport.
