RTA Member Briefing: December 13

RTA Members,

In this week’s newsletter, we offer a reminder about our electrification initiative — with recognition just over a month away at our annual meeting — and celebrate the beginning of new transit improvements in Durham and Chapel Hill.

Receive recognition for supporting electrification in transportation

Several member companies and regional partners have already submitted information for recognition at next month’s Annual Meeting. If you would like to receive recognition at our Annual Meeting on January 24 for your support in advancing electrification in transportation, please send a short email to Jacob with a brief summary of your organization’s efforts. Please click on last week’s briefing for more information.

Durham Station transit improvements begin

Earlier this week, RTA Regional Leadership Team member the City of Durham held a groundbreaking celebration for a $26 million renovation and upgrade to the Durham Station central bus facility. The improvements will include increasing the number of bus bays by 40%, adding several electric buses, and incorporating aesthetic improvements for the central station of the largest transit system in our region. Congratulations to all of Durham, and our region, for launching this important improvement — read more in this week’s blog.

Chapel Hill Transit service restoration launches next month

RTA Regional Leadership Team member the Town of Chapel Hill will be restoring full service on several Chapel Hill Transit routes in early January. Five routes will have a return to full service on January 6, and a new route will be added. Please view this page for more information.

Let’s get moving,
Joe
