RTA Member Briefing: October 25

RTA members and partners,

NC Railroad Company receives federal grant — another win for North Carolina

This week, our friends at the North Carolina Railroad Company received a federal grant of more than $100 million in Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) funding.

The proposed improvements will be implemented along the NCRR H line / Norfolk Southern Railway (NSR) NC line between Raleigh and Greensboro. The new infrastructure will include two new sidings, a 4.5 mile extension of an existing siding, a new grade separation with a major arterial, and other enhancements. Read more in this week’s blog.

We are less than three months from our 2025 Annual Meeting

As an RTA member, you have one or more tickets included with your membership for our annual meeting. The event attracts hundreds of business, elected, and transportation officials, and we will kick off the new year with energy and focus, including remarks from NC Chamber CEO Gary Salamido and a recognition of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority.

I encourage you to RSVP for the January 24th, 2025 luncheon event now, and potentially bring a colleague or client. Please contact RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg to register for the event or with any questions about event logistics, and reach out to me anytime.

Raleigh is N#1 — again

Raleigh ranked tops for driving in America, for the third time in the last four years. WalletHub ranked our capital and region’s largest city as the nation’s best for drivers due to comparatively lower costs of owning a vehicle and less congestion than other areas. Have a great weekend, everyone.
