Raleigh ranks tops for driving in America — again

RTA members and partners,

This month, our region’s capital and largest city of Raleigh was recently ranked by WalletHub as the nation’s best city for drivers — again.

Raleigh has been ranked N#1 in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Last year, the city ranked N#2 in the nation.

The city benefited in the rankings from comparatively lower costs of owning a vehicle and average parking rate, along with less time and fuel spent in congestion. The Bull City also continues to score increasingly well in these rankings, coming in at N#15 this year, after ranking N#31 in 2022 and N#21 last year.

This is all positive — plus the rankings do not reflect the added congestion relief from the recent opening of both the Complete 540/Southern Wake Freeway or the widening of I-40 in southeastern Wake County.

We will continue to push for an expanded and enhanced transportation network that helps travel across all modes of travel, including driving across our entire extended market.

Thank you for your continued investment in RTA and our shared mobility future.

Let’s get moving,

Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA executive director
