RTA Member Briefing: October 11

RTA members and partners,

NCDOT working to serve those in need

A huge thank you to the over 2,000 NCDOT employees and contractors working to restore the transportation system of much of western North Carolina. NCDOT and contract crews have already reopened nearly 500 roads in WNC; there are more than 5,000 damaged sites in the area. There is an ongoing need and NCDOT and partner agencies and organizations are working to meet that challenge. Please see this prior blog for more information on ways you can assist from here in the Triangle.

Go Wake Forest!

Wake Forest launched The “Go Wake Forest” service on October 1st, and had the formal launch event earlier this week. This is an innovative microtransit service in northern Wake County’s largest community that will greatly improve connectivity and access for both residents and visitors. Go Wake Forest works similar to a ride share service; riders can request a trip through Wake Forest’s mobile app or by calling  984-342-2319. Vans hold up to 5 riders, and there is no cost for patrons to use the service. The service is available within the town limits of Wake Forest in both Wake and Franklin counties; see this map for specific eligible locations. Read more in this week’s blog and/or view these FAQs.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Joe Milazzo II, PE
