Chapel Hill BRT Moves Forward

This past week was a great week for enhanced transit in the metropolitan Triangle. Chapel Hill Transit has been spearheading the 8+ mile long North-South BRT project for several years. This week the Federal Transit Administration announced that more than $138 million in federal funding would be recommended for the project in the Administration’s budget proposal to Congress for FY 2025. RTA 540 Field Visit – Register Now

We are less than 6 months away from the opening of 18 miles of new multimodal freeway in southern Wake County. We are also less than 3 months away from our next RTA field visit, where you will have an opportunity to visit a portion of the future 540 freeway, including a behind the scenes view of the tolling equipment. Registration is now open for the RTA field visit of 540, which will be held on the morning of Thursday, May 23rd. You can have more than one member from your firm attend, but you do need to register in advance here.

 

CAMPO launches regional safety study

The Capital Area MPO has launched a regional safety study for roads in the CAMPO area. RTA Gold Member VHB will be the lead consultant on the study, which will take more than a year to complete. Jacob Rigg represented RTA at the initial meeting this week. The regional business community is pleased to support the efforts by CAMPO, DCHC MPO, NCDOT and other partners to improve safety on our region’s roadways.
