Member Briefing: September 15

Successful 22nd annual retreat
Thank you to the more than 50 RTA Gold, Silver, and Bronze members and regional partners who joined us for our 22nd annual RTA Regional Leadership Retreat last week, September 7.

We heard updates on the successful, ongoing RDU letter writing campaign that is continuing this fall, enhanced NCDOT intercity Piedmont rail service, New Bern Avenue BRT corridor, the FAST 2.0 study, the complete 540 project, and multimodal freeway improvements. The presentations and conversation was great, and the dialogue will inform the development of our 2024 action plan, which will occur later this fall. See this week’s blog for more information.

Kudos to RTA member chambers for intercity visits this week
The Durham and Garner chambers are both holding their first intercity visits ever (or at least in recent memory) this week, with Durham heading to Indianapolis, Garner heading to Richmond, and both focusing on topical areas including BRT, regional impacts, and more.

Each of the more than 25 chambers of commerce in the RTA confederation of member chambers provides valuable focus, insights, and perspectives on mobility, and not just in their immediate service areas. We are grateful for their leadership and their ongoing service on the RTA Regional Leadership Team.

Let’s get moving!

Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
