RTA celebrates our first “autonomous” event

On Monday, RTA members had the chance to visit Cary’s Bond Park and ride the CASSI autonomous shuttle. This RTA general membership event was held in collaboration with our partners with Cary, NCDOT and ULI Triangle. Read this week’s blog for a recap; if you were unable to attend the event, you can still ride the shuttle during weekdays until June 2nd in Cary.

Speaking of Autonomous Shuttles…

NCDOT recently announced the Advance Mobility NC initiative to unify and advance various forms of transportation innovation for the movement of both passengers and freight in North Carolina. NCDOT’s efforts are already well underway, with the ongoing pilot and recent initiatives including advanced driver assistance systems and electric vertical aircraft.

As innovations like BRT move forward in our region, these and other advancements in transportation technology will both enhance and accelerate mobility benefits for our region and state. Last year’s RTA breakfast featured the melding of life science and transportation innovation, thanks to a great partnership with RTA Gold member United Therapeutics. This year’s breakfast will highlight the launch of our regional BRT network — I hope you can join us for the event on July 21.

Thank you, as always, for your membership and support.

Let’s get moving,

Joe
RTA Executive Director
