NCDOT updates on transit, and last month’s statewide summit

RTA members and partners,

NCDOT announced earlier this month that our state’s transit agencies will receive around $183 million for public transportation improvements. Our region will directly receive more than $31 million in funding.

This funding comes from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and is part of a $21 billion package being distributed nationwide. The $183 million total represents about $7 million more than last year, or a 4% increase.

NCDOT also recently announced that the videos from the 2023 N.C. Transportation Summit were now available. In one of our weekly blogs from last month, I noted that I and several other RTA members in attendance learned of new ideas, delved into emerging technologies, and gained new perspectives. If you have some time, I encourage your to peruse or scan some of the videos from the summit event to inform your thinking and understanding about the issues we are facing, and the upcoming mobility opportunities before us, as a region and state. Again kudos to NCDOT and NC Go! for putting on an outstanding summit last month.

Let’s get moving,
Joe
