Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
We expect our next RTA General Membership gathering(s) to be a complete success — especially if you can attend
After an excellent online RTA General Membership meeting last month focused on electrification in transportation, we are looking forward to our next one, which will be in person on Tuesday, February 28th at RDU Airport, where we will advocate for a new, primary runway at RDU Airport. For this “RTA General Membership Meeting: RDU Runway Support” gathering, we will assemble at a conference room at 4:30 pm and then head to the public hearing which commences at 5 pm to offer brief comments of support from the regional business community. Please email RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg if you can attend; please also let him know if you would be willing to deliver verbal comments (which would be provided one-on-one to the transcriber) and/or written comments at the hearing.
We will also be holding another General Membership gathering in late March to visit the under construction southern Wake 540 project on Thursday, March 23rd. For our “RTA General Membership Field Visit: Complete 540” we plan to visit two different interchange and corridor locations for this vital multimodal turnpike freeway that will be open to traffic next year. We will receive a presentation by the NC Turnpike Authority first before visiting the respective site locations. Kudos to RTA Leadership Team member Wake Technical Community College for serving as our host for the event. Please email RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg if you can attend.
Let’s celebrate love this February 14th — of liberty, and of our shared journey together, on Frederick Douglass’ birthday
February is Black History Month, a celebration of the contributions of African Americans to our nation’s past, present and future. As we approach the month’s midpoint, one concrete way each of us can help create a more empathetic and authentic sense of our shared history is to celebrate the tremendous contributions, resilience, and inspiration of a great American, Frederick Douglass, on his chosen birthday of February 14. Read more about Frederick Douglas, and how we can lift our voices for a better future, in this week’s RTA weekly blog.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our 21st annual meeting. And, thank you for your ongoing dedication to regional business leadership on mobility.
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
