Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
Happy New Year from RTA!
This past year, despite its challenges, has been a solid year for RTA, business leadership, and regional transportation — from our RTA tour to South Florida in March and our regional transit awareness day in September, to FAA approval of a longer primary runway for RDU this spring and the opening of the I-885 connector this summer.
My sense is that our collective impact in 2022 is a harbinger of greater things to come in the new year. In 2023 construction will commence on our region’s first enhanced rapid transit corridor, the New Bern Avenue BRT in Raleigh, while our region will move forward on regional commuter rail and continue progress on several vital multimodal freeway projects. Our upcoming weekly member briefings will dive into these and other areas in more detail.
On behalf of the regional business community, I look forward to a prosperous and mobile new year with each of our members, partners and friends.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
