RDU Flight Roster Elevates to New Levels

Avelo Airlines has provided nonstop service to New Haven, Connecticut since May of this year. They recently announced that they will be adding six additional Florida nonstops: Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, West Palm Beach Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers.
In addition, Avelo will be starting a new base at RDU, expecting to create at least 50 new jobs. Arvelo plans on adding an additional airplane in the spring and increasing to a fleet of five to seven airplanes in the next five to seven years.
The CEO of Avelo Andrew Levy spoke on this growth, “As we add more airplanes, we’ll be adding more local employment.”
Avelo isn’t the only airline adding flights at RDU. Breeze Airways also announced they are adding exclusive flights to Columbus, Ohio, and Jacksonville, Florida starting next year.
RTA’s highest priority as we continue into 2023 will remain identifying and securing sustainable funding for infrastructure at RDU Airport. These wonderful airline announcements (and more to come) are just some of the reasons why.
