Life science and mobility innovation for breakfast

Life Science and Mobility innovation for breakfast

July 22, 2022, was our annual RTA Transportation Breakfast. Held at The Umstead Hotel and Spa, more than 200 business leaders, elected officials, transportation partners, and guests came together at the sold-out event to learn about a series of game-changing — and life-changing — mobility and life science innovations.

Breakfast attendees heard keynote presentations from United Therapeutics (UT), a pioneer in xenotransplantation and the first biotech/biopharma to take the form of a public benefit corporation; UT subsidiary Unither Bioélectronique, which is researching the adaptation of electric vertical aircraft (EVA) for manufactured organ delivery; and UT partner BETA Technologies, an electric aviation company building electric aircraft and the charging infrastructure to support it.

Event attendees left inspired by the opportunities and possibilities that EVA innovation represents for both the delivery of medical necessities and for mobility broadly. Attendees were also energized as we learned of the return to growth at RDU International from Airport Authority Chair Patrick Hannah.

You can visit the event webpage to view the presentation deck and videos.

Thank you to everyone who attended the breakfast event and to each of our more than 50 RTA Regional Leadership Team companies, and all of our members, who allow the RTA to drive consensus and action every day. A special thank you to the Research Triangle Foundation and to Credit Suisse, TowneBank, and the Town of Cary for sponsoring this year’s RTA Transportation Breakfast.

In addition, thank you to my colleague Jacob Rigg, RTA Member Operations Coordinator, for outstanding event preparations and execution. The same goes for all our colleagues at the Raleigh Chamber and The Special Event Company, and for the staff of The Umstead Hotel, who worked together to make sure your event experience was “A+”.

It was a great celebration of both transportation and innovation, and regional collaboration and partnership — I can’t wait until the next one.
