Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
RTA South Florida tour — new dates, registration open
We have identified new dates next month for our briefly deferred RTA 2022 Regional Leadership Tour to South Florida. We will now be in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties from Tuesday, March 29 through Thursday, March 31. We are looking forward to an outstanding trip, and as we had prepared for our original late January dates, we will have all briefings, presentations, and attendee receptions outside, with rain backup locations.
If you are have already registered for the prior January dates you received instructions on what to do a few days ago. Whether or not you had previously signed up for the tour, the gist is this: registration has reopened, sponsorships are available, you can designate a substitute from your organization if you cannot go, we will honor refunds through this coming Thursday, February 10, and we will permit substitutes without penalty through the commencement of the tour on March 29.
RTA general membership meeting – February 23
Our top priority as an organization continues to be sustainable funding for RDU Airport. To advance these efforts we will have a general meeting later this month for all RTA members, with an exclusive focus on RDU infrastructure. The meeting will be held online-only on Wednesday, February 23, at 11 am. This meeting will include an overview from new RTA chair Harold Hicks with RTI International, updates from RDU Airport CEO Mike Landguth, comments from several of our focus area chairs, and simple but impactful actions for all of us to consider over the next few months. I encourage all RTA members to participate or send a representative — register here if you can attend.
Let’s get Moving for Transit, Orange County
Orange County’s Transit plan process is progressing — and all RTA members and partners can participate in an important survey right now. The initiative has progressed enough that there are now specific short- and longer-term projects to consider. To offer your feedback on these and other possible transit enhancements, please click here and respond to the survey before March 4. More in this week’s blog.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
