Member Briefing: October 22, 2021

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

RTA 20th annual meeting — an “outside-in” celebration
I look forward to seeing many of you early next month at our RTA 20th annual meeting.

We will celebrate 20 years of business leadership on mobility via a “hybrid” outside/inside event at the Embassy Suites in Cary. RTA has rented a large open air tent with fans for ventilation for an outdoor reception for our members and partners from 11 am to 12 noon. We will then convene indoors for a conversation with several of our past, present, and future chairs, followed by our annual State of Mobility presentation.

Our panel discussion will feature our founding chairmen, Smedes York and Bob Ingram; Clymer Cease, our chair from 10 years ago; our current chair Mike Schoenfeld; and our chair-elect, Harold Hicks.

While we will be honoring two decades of business leadership, our conversation will be forward-looking, with much of our focus on advancing a metropolitan rapid transit system for our region, which is a core element of our overall Accelerated Metropolitan Mobility strategy for the Triangle.

We will also continue to highlight the ongoing need to secure sustainable funding for RDU Airport, which remains our top organizational priority overall, and was the focus of yesterday’s RTA RDU AID task force visit to the strategic planning committee of the RDU Airport Authority Board.

Please RSVP online here; call 919.664.7011 or email Iman Fullard with any questions about your registration.

Let me know directly if you would like to sponsor the 20th annual meeting.
