Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition — the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
RTA annual meeting – 19 minutes of nonstop leadership
To say that I am excited about this month’s 19th annual meeting of the regional business community’s voice on transportation would be an understatement. I have been at the RTA for nearly two decades, and this year’s event will be by far the fastest — only 30 minutes long, with our core program only 19 minutes in duration. The meeting will be informative and continue our momentum for the upcoming year. With 2021 approaching, now is the time to get up to speed. The RTA annual meeting is included with your membership; just register here.
Wake BRT virtual open house is open now
The City of Raleigh, which is coordinating the development of the four bus rapid transit lines proposed for the eastern Triangle, has activated a BRT virtual open house. The website, which will be open through the end of the month, provides information about each of the corridors, the City’s companion equitable development around transit initiative, and more. I invite our members to participate in the open house, and to consider taking one or more of the surveys including art and station design.
The Western Triangle is moving forward on transit
Last month, Orange County held a fall Transit Summit as part of the effort to update the county transit plan. The summit focused on ways to approach the transit planning process and identify community goals and priorities for transit. Meanwhile, Durham’s transit plan update is also progressing; there is an active survey online here. This week’s RTA blog highlights our support for both initiatives, as well as our ongoing encouragement of an “urgent and flexible” approach.
Your membership in the RTA business coalition gets our region moving faster – thank you for your leadership!
Let’s get moving,
Joe
