Member Briefing: December 20, 2019

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition — the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

A 540 Christmas in the Triangle
This week marked the formal financial close for the bonds needed for 540. This week’s blog highlights that moment, and the importance of the project and this milestone during this season of bringing people together. It has been eight years since this organization began work on accelerating 540 in the early years we were more focused on saving 540 than accelerating it and I look forward to celebrating with each of you at our annual meeting.

You can visit the future at next month’s RTA annual meeting
At The State of Mobility 2020, our keynote speakers with WakeMed Health & Hospitals and NC State University will speak to mobility innovations and implications over the next 10 years as well as several decades out. Dr. Stuart Ginn and Dr. Marc Hoit will lead the regional business community on a journey of what’s coming and what’s possible. Please be sure to register online here so that you can secure your seat for our annual event on January 17.

RFP for regional FAST network released
This week we released an RFP concerning the advancement of a regional Freeway And Street-based Transit (FAST) network to complement, extend, and link the proposed bus rapid transit corridors, while providing seamless connections to the proposed commuter rail. RTA is funding the study in concert with GoTriangle and NCDOT. More information can be found on our study webpage, letsgetmoving.org/FASTnetwork. Let me know if you have questions.

We wish each of you and your families a very merry Christmas. Thank you for being a part of the voice of the regional business community on transportation!

Let’s get moving,

Joe
