14 years of BOSSing around congestion
Last month the region marked the 14th anniversary of the activation of North Carolina’s first Bus On Shoulder System (BOSS), on I-40 in Durham County. If you are looking for a fast, good, and cost-effective regional mobility solution, North Carolina’s cooperative BOSS initiative should be at or near the top of your list.
BOSS provides several symbiotic benefits that improve operations, reduce costs, and increase the attractiveness of transit, and there is the opportunity for further expansion on metropolitan freeways.
Kudos to NCDOT and GoTriangle for allowing transit patrons to “BOSS” around their commute, now going on the 15th year of service. Please read this week’s blog to learn more about the BOSS program in the Triangle.
TBJ spotlights RDU Airport in podcast
The Triangle Business Journal recently highlighted the growth of RDU Airport in a recent “Bottom Line” podcast. RDU Airport Authority president and CEO Mike Landguth provided updates on airline and flight expansions, infrastructure, funding, and more. I also participated in the podcast, along with Wit Tuttle from Visit North Carolina (part of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina). I invite you take a listen on your drive or transit trip home during the next week.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of regional business leadership on transportation.
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA executive director
