RTA 2026 Leadership Briefing and Field Visit to Annapolis and Suburban Maryland

RTA thanks our honorary chairs for the July 2026 Maryland tour – NCDOT Chief Engineer Patrick Norman and NCDOT Deputy Secretary for Multi-modal Transportation Julie White – for their leadership and partnership, as we learn together for the future of our region and state.

On July 20 and 21, 2026, RTA will visit the Annapolis and Suburban Maryland area. The event page (letsgetmoving.org/Maryland2026) includes registration info, sponsorship options, and a list of confirmed tour participants.

Early registration pricing is now active, and space is limited for the tour. Please let me or RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg know if you have questions.

Synchronized Street Coming to Garner / US 401

NCDOT announced this week that traffic flow and safety will be improving on a primary corridor south of the capital city. NCDOT has a plan to create a Synchronized Street design along a one mile plus stretch of US 401, just south of the 70/401 split, in the Garner area.

The regional business community has been a strong supporter of the synchronized street design along major through travel corridors for more than a decade.  Thank you to NCDOT for advancing this important corridor improvement, for safety, efficiency, and congestion relief. Read more in this week’s blog.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Let’s get moving.

Joe
