Our region looks to get BRT, FAST, and SMART

RTA members and partners,
Earlier this week, RTA and NCDOT held our first regional BRT/FAST/SMART team meeting at the global headquarters of RTA Leadership Team members SAS in Cary.
Let’s clarify the triple acronym nature of the meeting at the outset of this post:
Most RTA members know that BRT stands for Bus Rapid Transit, and also Buses Resembling Trains. FAST is short for the FAST transit study of freeway, arterial, street, and tactical transit. SMART freeways references simplified methods to accelerate relief for traffic — and to accelerate rapid transit.
For the initial meeting, various transit and transportation partners received presentations and remarks from local and regional transit agencies and planning organizations, along RDU Airport, NCDOT and the NC Turnpike Authority.

RTA is committed to enhancing congestion relief and travel options, and it was great to have more than 50 partners come together to move the region forward, faster.
