Another Successful RTA-led Tour

RTA led a group of more than 70 regional leaders for a one day RTA QuickTour in Richmond on Tuesday, June 18th. Attendees heard from city, regional, and state leaders in Virginia on how they built their first freeway cap — a park above a freeway — and their plans for constructing a second one over I-95 to reconnect a historical community.

Tour participants were also able to learn about and ride their downtown BRT in Richmond, complete with a designated bus lane, signal priority, and attractive stations. We also heard from city engineers, transit professionals, and contractors on their perspectives on BRT, as well as state perspectives on intercity rail between Virginia and North Carolina. You can download the final agenda here, and view photos from the event here.

RTA and our partners are confident that this week’s QuickTour will accelerate conversations that lead to action on freeway caps, BRT, and enhanced transit across the region. Thank you to Williams Mullen, Kimley-Horn, WSP, and the Town of Cary for sponsoring the tour, which was presented by the RTA Regional Leadership Team and hosted by Williams Mullen.

Let’s get moving — faster — together.
