RTA QuickTour — join 40 registrants and counting

We have more than 40 RTA members and partners registered for next month’s RTA QuickTour in Richmond, Va., presented by the RTA Regional Leadership Team.

The event will be held on Tuesday, June 18th. RTA members can sign up for only $175.

View the tour webpage for the agenda and current attendee list. Kudos to Williams Mullen, Kimley-Horn, WSP, and the Town of Cary for sponsoring the tour. Learn more about the event here:  www.letsgetmoving.org/RTAQuickTour.

Note to current or potential tour registrants: Please let us know if you will also be arriving the prior evening, as we might gather for an informal “bonus session” with fellow RTA members and tour attendees at 8 pm in Richmond.

Successful, behind-the-scenes 540 field visit

RTA held a field visit on Thursday to preview the advanced toll technology for the southern Wake freeway portion of the new turnpike corridor (“phase 1” of Complete 540).  Participants were able to walk within a tolling zone, view the equipment from above and on the roadside, and observe live transactions from the existing turnpike.

NC Turnpike and NCDOT staff were outstanding in their knowledge and demonstrations of the new tolling technology — which is even more reliable and accurate than the original system on the existing turnpike, as well as lower in maintenance — which means a more effective operation for the NC Turnpike Authority team and a better experience for each of us as customers. Thank you to everyone who attended Thursday morning. For more information on the field visit, please read this week’s blog.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA executive director
