Cary Lights Up Transit

Cary has introduced solar-powered lights at many of their transit stops to add reliability and increase safety. These lights will keep transit users in a well-lit environment while saving between 50 watts in LED and 200 watts in incandescent per stop.
The passenger-activated lights will also make the stops visible at night to notify bus drivers that someone wishes to board the bus.
Cary is also enhancing accessibility and inclusion throughout its transit system:
- Construct ADA-accessible landing pads at all new bus stops;
- Retrofit existing GoCary bus stops with ADA-accessible concrete landing pads, eliminating the need to board and alight buses on grass;
- Install easy-to-read customer information panels at all bus stops, which will include route and schedule information.
These changes will affect over 200 bus stops throughout Cary.
