Remember to register for our I-885 RTA General Membership Meeting
Last week we mentioned that our next RTA General Membership Meeting will be held in person, outside, on Tuesday, May 17, at 10 am, in concert with Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce. At the meeting we will celebrate the imminent opening of the I-885 Durham East End Connector, which was RTA’s top priority for several years until its groundbreaking in 2014. You can register online now for the May 17 event (rain date May 19). And speaking of new Interstates…
A new Interstate for the Triangle — and for our future
Interstate 42 will traverse along the US 70 freeway from the Wake/Johnston county line towards Smithfield and Selma, with a second segment of I-42 along US 70 near Goldsboro. Our growing freeway system is vital for commerce, tourism, accessibility, and the network provides improved access to affordable housing and a variety of jobs via multiple current and future modes of transportation.
This week’s blog speaks of a number of new and emerging Interstate freeways, including Interstate 42, the I-685 / Carolina Core Freeway we have spoken of previously, and also the imminent opening of I-885, mentioned above. Our Interstates and other freeways are vital for the future of our region and state, and we look forward to seeing and supporting their progress.
Thank you, as always, for your commitment to sustained regional business leadership on mobility.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
