REGIONAL BUSINESS GROUP TO ELEVATE “TIME IS MONEY” THEME AT ANNUAL MEETING EVENT
– FOCUS ON DELAYS, RISING COSTS FOR TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS AND INCREASED SENSE OF URGENCY
CARY, NORTH CAROLINA — The RTA 2025 Annual Meeting – the State of Mobility: Time is Money will be held this Friday, January 24 at the Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham-Research Triangle in Cary. This annual event from the Regional Transportation Alliance is an opportunity for the regional business community and critical elected and transportation partners to elevate the power of focused and collaborative efforts to keep our market moving.
Current RTA chair Jay Irby with First Citizens Bank, incoming RTA chair Sarah Gaskill with FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, RTA Executive Director Joe Milazzo, and NC Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Gary Salamido will offer their perspectives in a fireside chat format on issues critical to businesses across our market.
The event will focus on several priorities including accelerating the upgrade of Capital Boulevard to a multimodal freeway, developing a sustainable business model for essential infrastructure improvements at rapidly growing Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), the need for a resilient transportation funding source via an access user fee framework, and the urgency of accelerating the region’s 10 BRT (Bus Rapid Transit or “Buses Resembling Trains”) corridors including a direct linkage with RDU International Airport.
More than 300 business, transportation, and elected leaders are expected to attend the annual event. Visit letsgetmoving.org/sofm for more information.

“The RTA annual meeting is a critical opportunity for the business community to come together and elevate the importance and opportunity of accelerating critical infrastructure. RTA has served as the lead private sector voice on mobility for more than two decades, and we will continue to act as one to move the region forward, in concert with our local, regional, state, and federal partners.”
– Jay Irby First Citizens Bank, 2024 RTA Chair
“While the business community does not directly build transportation infrastructure, we support our partners by delivering necessary focus, regional cooperation, a spotlight on critical issues, and a drive for action towards faster, needed solutions. The RTA annual meeting is a can’t-miss moment to gain insights on the region’s upcoming progress on mobility and what areas will need increasing attention in 2025.”
– Joe Milazzo II, PE, RTA executive director
