Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition — the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
Let’s give thanks for RDU
—
and please offer feedback
The
only thing that I like better about RDU Airport than its many flight
offerings and campus aesthetics is the quality of the professional
staff. The regional business community
is indebted to their sacrifice of time and commitment of service to the
region.
You likely know that
RTA has an active task force that is supporting RDU’s efforts to
continue to serve our growing community for decades to come. The task
force is grappling with emerging funding challenges which, if
unresolved, will constrain growth and opportunity in our
market, and make the flying experience far less pleasurable.
I would like your feedback on the following question: if RDU Airport were not able to continue to grow with the community
— by having insufficient gate, security line, roadway, or parking capacity— would that impact your business, and if so, in what way? Please give me your thoughts before you leave for the holiday on this vital issue, and let me
know if you need more information.
Learn about The Road Not Taken
In
the transportation and travel realm, there is a phrase called
“Transportation Demand Management” or TDM. Under TDM, the goal is to
adjust travel demands to bicycling, walking,
bus transit, vanpooling, or carpooling modes — or to “teleworking,”
which eliminates the commuting trip — to relieve congestion during peak
periods and/or overall automobile travel.
We have a brief blog on TDM in
this week’s Thursday Thoughts at 3; you can learn more about the topic
here.
Thank you for your engagement
in the voice of the regional business community on transportation!
Let’s get moving,
Joe
