BRT is under construction in Raleigh — here is an overview of our region’s BRT corridors (10 and counting)

The New Bern Avenue corridor is under construction in Raleigh, which formally commences the building of our region’s metropolitan BRT future. Congratulations to the City of Raleigh and all local, regional, state, and federal partners.

To celebrate, this week’s blog provides an overview of BRT, and our region’s 10+ BRT corridors across four counties (Wake, Orange, Durham, Johnston).

The future of Research Triangle Park is tied to the future of regional mobility

Last week’s Triangle Business Journal cover story on the future of RTP provided an excellent overview of the new land use opportunities in North America’s largest research park, and our region’s biggest job center.

RTA legislative and policy chair, Scott Levitan, the president and CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, was appropriately quoted extensively in the article about the impetus for the changes as well as the importance and opportunity of transportation.

RTA will continue our focus on multimodal mobility in the Park and across the region in 2026 with partners including the Research Triangle Foundation and our public sector partners.

Triangle Bikeway outreach sessions begin

The Triangle Bikeway is a proposed 23 mile shared use path linking Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, Research Triangle Park (RTP), Durham, and Chapel Hill. The “Triangle Bikeway East” segment is the 14 mile portion of the project that will link RTP to Raleigh, funded by Wake County and the Research Triangle Foundation (RTF). There is an ongoing design study managed by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO). There are several outreach opportunities beginning this Saturday, January 31st in Morrisville, and online; you can also watch this short video for more information about the study.
