The one kind of traffic we want — some congestion expected for Carolina Hurricanes victory parade

Our hometown hockey champions, the Carolina Hurricanes, have won the Stanley Cup, the hardest professional sports championship trophy to win.

In celebration of the Carolina Hurricanes victory, the City of Raleigh will have a parade tomorrow, Saturday, June 20th, beginning at 11 am.

You should expect heavier traffic in and around the Downtown Raleigh area on Saturday.

Fortunately there several parking and transit options available. Here are links to transportation and parking from the Hurricanes/NHL, the City of Raleigh (including frequent transit access as well as free parking City parking lots), the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, and the Governor (re: free parking in state parking lots).

You can text CANESPARADE to 888777 for real-time updates.

The Stanley Cup final run was important for a number of reasons, including regional branding, as well as civic, metropolitan, and state pride. The Canes victory is also an athletics-based living testimony to resilience and the vindication of keeping with a plan.

Let’s Go Canes, and Let’s get moving,

Joe
