We have had a great year thus far in 2026, from our annual meeting that highlighted RDU Airport, to our annual brunch with insights from a national speaker on innovative mobility, to a field visit on I-40 in Orange County and a regional leadership tour to Maryland.
In October alone we will have three more engagement opportunities for all RTA members, and all are included in your membership. In addition, we are only four months until our 25th annual meeting.

US 401 North Field Visit – October 12
As noted in a prior weekly briefing, NCDOT recently completed a series of multimodal improvements that increased capacity and reduced travel delay along US 401 North, including the first “continuous flow intersection” in the eastern half of North Carolina.
You can visit these improvements in northern Wake County next month during our RTA field visit to US 401 North, which will be held on Monday, October 12, from 1 pm – 2 pm, in concert with our colleagues at NCDOT. (You can also learn more about the improvements in this recent weekly RTA blog.)

RTA / Montgomery County, Md. transit project delivery focus session – October 14
RTA and Montgomery County, Maryland will hold a special focus session on project development and alternative delivery for transit, as a follow-up to the RTA leadership tour to suburban Maryland this summer. This interactive session will be held online only, on Wednesday, October 14, from 10 am to 11:30 am.
The session is open to all, whether or not you participated in the RTA visit this summer. There is no cost to attend, although pre-registration is required.
RTA and Montgomery County thank our partners at NCDOT, Maryland SHA, and all transit colleagues and elected partners – including RTA Maryland tour honorary co-chairs Julie White and Patrick Norman with NCDOT, and also Maryland Delegate Marc Korman, Maryland State Highway Administrator Will Pines, and Montgomery County Chief Administrative Officer Rich Madaleno – for their collective leadership in advancing transit priority infrastructure.
I-40 Partnership annual meeting – October 22
RTA members and partners will gather next month at the I-40 Regional Partnership annual meeting at SAS Institute in Cary on Thursday afternoon, October 22, beginning at 1 pm. The I-40 Regional Partnership is a public-private initiative coordinated by NCDOT and RTA since 2009, with an ongoing focus on improving the operation of Interstate 40, including access to and from the Interstate.
All RTA member companies and organizations can attend the 18th annual meeting of the I-40 Partnership next month. However, we request that only one representative per private sector member company sign up initially as space is limited. Register via this link.
Register for RTA 25th Annual Meeting – January 29
Registration is open for our RTA 25th annual meeting, which will be held on Friday, January 29, 2027. If you are an RTA member, you have one or more tickets included with your membership, although pre-registration is essential, as this event frequently sells out. To register for the 25th annual meeting, please connect with Alea Morales or Jacob Rigg. They can also answer any questions about the event.
