RTA weekly member briefing – April 28, 2017
Here is a brief weekly update on some items of interest and current activities of the RTA business coalition–feel free to share with your associates.

I-40/Fortify lane closures begin this weekend
Week-long lane closures on I-40 westbound approaching the I-440/U.S. 1-64 (Exit 293) interchange will begin tonight, Friday, April 28. This will reduce I-40 westbound traffic to only two through lanes until next Friday, May 5. Traffic will then be returned to the standard three-lane pattern on newly-built inside lanes. A similar traffic shift will take place in late May for I-40 eastbound.

RDU Airport parking renovations begin
Work to update and preserve the airport’s main parking facility between the terminals began this week. Improvements to the garage deck will take place until the end of the year, and will require up to 1,500 parking spaces in the “ParkRDU Central” area to be closed off at any given time. During the project, RDU is providing additional staff and economy lot shuttle buses to mitigate delays to travelers; “ParkRDU Premier” spaces will be unaffected. RDU is encouraging passengers to arrive two hours early and check the status of available parking on the rdu.com homepage.

Workshop this Thursday for statewide transit plan
NCDOT is holding a community workshop in our area next week to inform their development of a statewide public transportation plan. The meeting takes place this Thursday, May 4, at RTP Headquarters. Details are available here.
