NCDOT, CSX, and Triangle Business Leaders Discuss Partnerships and Priorities at Annual RTA Transportation Breakfast Friday
RESEARCH TRIANGLE REGION—NCDOT Secretary Jim Trogdon and John Dillard, resident vice president-state relations, CSX Transportation, will headline the Regional Transportation Alliance business coalition’s 2017 Transportation Breakfast on Friday. The event will highlight how new state leaders and partnerships are improving commerce in the Triangle.
In addition, a business panel of RTA leaders will discuss the importance of upcoming and proposed projects in our market, including the I-540 extension, RDU master plan, innovative approaches to traffic relief, and intermodal freight investments. Participants include:
- Robert Doreauk, AT&T North Carolina; RTA development chair
- Kerry Grace Heckle, UNC REX Healthcare; RTA communications chair
- Pete Marino, Smith Anderson; RTA freeways chair
“Partnership between the regional business community and our state’s transportation leaders will continue to spur economic opportunity across the Triangle market and beyond,” says Steve Brechbiel, 2017 RTA chair. “Future I-87, express shoulder lanes for 540, and a low-cost project fund are just a few examples of successful cooperation between the public and private sectors to advance mobility.”
“Innovative projects and funding are essential for our infrastructure to keep pace with the growth of our region,” says Pete Marino, Smith Anderson, RTA Freeways chair. “We applaud NCDOT for accelerating congestion relief through strategic prioritization, Complete 540, and other key initiatives and we commend CSX for their investment in the Carolina Connector intermodal freight hub near I-95 and future I-87 at Rocky Mount.”
The RTA 2017 Transportation Breakfast takes place Friday, July 14, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., at The Umstead Hotel and Spa.
