540 on-ramp signals begin Tuesday
The activation of North Carolina’s first on-ramp signals takes place this Tuesday, Sept. 26, for I-540 westbound in northwest Raleigh. On-ramp signals at the I-540 entrance ramps on Falls of Neuse, Six Forks, NC 50/Creedmoor, and Leesville are intended to improve safety by providing congestion relief, with the added benefit of improved travel times and reliability. RTA is engaged with our NCDOT partners to ensure this low-cost solution will be able to successfully improve the flow of the freeway towards RTP and serve as a model for future applications.

Learn more about Durham-Orange light railĀ
Two public meetings will be held this coming week on the light rail project between Durham and Chapel Hill. You can drop-in to either of these meetings for project updates, including the potential for a new station in downtown Durham. GoTriangle and partners will also be focused on land-use and development opportunities along the corridor. Our approved 2017-18 RTA Action Plan highlights our support of land use policies that will maximize the success of light rail, as well as commuter rail and bus rapid transit.

VisitRaleigh survey – Destination Strategic Plan
RTA partners closely with RTA Leadership Team investor Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau on a number of mobility and travel experience issues. They have initiated a destination strategic plan process to enhance travel and tourism in the capital area. All RTA members are invited to take this short survey and provide your thoughts to the Bureau.

The regional business community has a right and responsibility to have a strong voice on mobility issues. Thank you for being a part of that voice through RTA!

Let’s get moving,

Joe Milazzo II, PE
