Unified regional application submitted for Amazon
The Triangle region submitted its response to the Amazon “HQ2” RFP prior to yesterday’s deadline. RTA has served as a regional partner on this effort by highlighting our competitive mobility advantage in the proposal and in responses to articles from the New York Times and Moody’s, in addition to noting our overall strengths. Please feel free to comment on and share any of these posts via LinkedIn. The “Triangle Delivers HQ2” effort has been yet one more example of solid regional cooperation that has fueled our area’s success.

I-40 Partnership meets next week
Wouldn’t it be great if our regional transportation partners periodically met to examine the current status of I-40, considered by the regional business community as our region’s main street, as well as opportunities to make that freeway and its connector and parallel roadways better? You can rest easy because the I-40 Partnership, a cooperative initiative between RTA and NCDOT, has been doing exactly that for more than 8 years. Our next meeting is this coming Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25, at RTP headquarters, and you are welcome to join us – just let me or Natalie know.

Wake Transit improvements – learn about what’s here and what’s next
It has been almost a year since Wake County voters joined their friends in Durham and Orange counties in affirming their enhanced transit future. Several improvements to service frequency and hours of operation have already occurred, major investment studies for bus rapid transit and commuter rail are underway, and there is much more to come during the ten year time horizon of the plan. Over the next 3-4 weeks there will be a number of public outreach opportunities to learn more and offer comments. See the list of public meetings, view some new FAQs, and take this new survey provided by the Wake Transit partners.

Thank you for your support of the regional business community’s voice on transportation. Be sure to register for our annual meeting on December 14th – included in your membership – and be on the lookout for additional updates on that event as well as next month’s Richmond trip and some exciting congestion relief initiatives.

Let’s get moving,

Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
