RTA 2018 Breakfast speaker announced
RTA is pleased to announce the speaker for our annual breakfast event: Mr. Joe Esposito, who is the incoming SVP for Network Planning for Delta Air Lines. Joe will lead Delta’s diverse global network strategy for the Atlanta-based airline, which is also the largest carrier at RDU. He will speak to air industry trends, as well as insights in to the domestic and global strategy of Delta, at the annual RTA breakfast. RTA would like to thank each of our Leadership Team investors and event sponsors for making the RTA 2018 Transportation Breakfast possible. All RTA members have one or more tickets included with their membership; you can reserve your seat now and/or sponsor the event. Individual tickets may become available July 1, space-permitting.

RTA Leadership says, “Let’s strengthen RDU and Build NC”
At this week’s quarterly RTA Leadership Team meeting, the organization endorsed RDU airport’s state legislative focus for ongoing funding for North Carolina’s commercial airports. The Leadership Team also endorsed NCDOT’s Build NC innovative financing mechanism to accelerate regional and local highway priorities. Thank you to each of our RTA Leadership Team members for their strong support of the organization and for their engagement on transportation policy issues of importance to the business community.

Let’s “cross over” for congestion relief
The region’s first “diverging diamond” interchange (DDI) may be coming to Raleigh, at I-440 and Wake Forest Road. A DDI requires the side street travel directions to travel backwards through the interchange area – which sounds strange, but having the two travel streams cross over each other greatly simplifies left turns off and on the freeway. A DDI is not appropriate in many locations, but it can be very useful where significant turning traffic exists at exchanges along the freeway. You can learn more this coming Thursday, May 17, at an NCDOT public meeting from 4p-7p.

Thank you for your membership in the RTA business coalition!

Let’s get moving,

Joe Milazzo II, PE
