Coming this summer:  premium coaches for express transit
GoTriangle will pilot a new commuter coach for a month this spring/summer on its longer regional express transit routes (Raleigh-Chapel Hill and Raleigh-Durham). RTA emerging technology chair Linda Hall with RTP Foundation and RTA freight and commerce chair Julie Roper with PSNC Energy joined RTA staff for a GoTriangle demo earlier this week. The vehicle and ride is very comfortable and attractive and represents a promising potential addition for the ongoing evolution of regional transit in our market. Kudos to Jeff Mann and Pat Stephens with GoTriangle for introducing this opportunity for enhancing the travel experience.

Good things come in threes:  RTA 2018 Summit Series – May 1, 2, 3
We are pleased to announce the schedule for the RTA May 2018 Summit Series: Accelerating mobility innovations amidst growth and uncertainty. We will hold three sessions at 3 pm on three consecutive days across the region: May 1 (Durham), May 2 (Raleigh), and May 3 (RTP). Each meeting will have the same agenda, so attendees may attend any session, with an excellent line-up of RTA volunteers who will be leading each event. We will formally announce the series and accept RSVPs beginning next week; mark your calendar now and let me know if you want to sponsor ($999 for the entire series).

NCDOT and region moves closer to Fixing 440 in west Raleigh
NCDOT has been working to minimize the footprint of the vital I-440 improvement project in west Raleigh. The newest plan reflects a much smaller impact to the adjacent area. We applaud NCDOT for their strong partnership with the community and ongoing efforts to deliver needed projects while reducing impacts to land and regional travel.

On behalf of RTA Chair Bruce Sargent with IBM, thank you for your membership in the RTA business coalition, the voice of the regional business community on transportation.
Let’s get moving,

Joe Milazzo II, PE
