Here is a brief weekly update on some items of interest and current activities of the RTA business coalition–feel free to share with your associates.

Meeting on Raleigh’s 2030 Transportation vision
The City of Raleigh is hosting several public meetings to update the city’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan. A transportation-focused meeting will be held this Tuesday, June 27, 7 – 8:30 p.m., to present the vision for all modes of transportation including transit, greenways, and bicycle and pedestrian networks.
Google Maps incorporates I-87
Creating a new Interstate designation from Raleigh to I-95 North and to coastal Virginia has been a longstanding RTA priority. NCDOT has now received all of the necessary approvals needed for posting Interstate 87 from Raleigh to Wendell and future I-87 for points further east along the US 64 and 17 corridor. Google Maps now includes I-87 icons along the freeway corridor between Raleigh and Rocky Mount. When the I-87 signs are posted along the freeway later this year, the I-495 signs will be simultaneously removed. Note: Google Maps incorrectly shows I-87 as also concurrent with I-40 in south Raleigh – we have requested an adjustment.
Thank you for being a part of the regional business voice for transportation.
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
