Citrix Cycle to launch in Raleigh late summer
The new City of Raleigh bicycle share program officially has a title sponsor – RTA Leadership Team member Citrix. The bikeshare system will be called “Citrix Cycle” and is expected to launch later this summer with 300 bikes at 30 stations – many of which will have an electric assist motor (“pedelec”). Kudos to Citrix for the ongoing investment in mobility as a longtime RTA member, and for their support of our region’s newest bikeshare program.
I-40 / Aviation interchange begins construction
NCDOT has begun work on improvements to the existing I-40 interchange with Aviation Parkway – a project initially accelerated by RTA and the Town of Cary through our 2012 statewide Mobility Fund applications to NCDOT. The project will provide a new loop ramp for westbound I-40 travelers heading to Morrisville and Cary, which will also benefit travelers heading from Morrisville or Cary to either I-40 westbound or RDU, by reducing delays at the traffic signal. Read more about the project here.
Upcoming Moving Morrisville Forward event
I look forward to joining several colleagues with the Town of Morrisville, NCDOT, and GoTriangle for a panel discussion at the Morrisville Chamber’s Transportation Update. We will discuss several important roadway and transit projects advancing in the heart of the Triangle at this event led by one of our member chambers. Anyone can register to attend the luncheon event on June 12 – click here for more information.
RTA continues to monitor the state budget and is engaged in conversations with key partners on regional transit funding. Thank you to each of you for your membership and support.
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
