Secure your member tickets for RTA Breakfast
In just two weeks, the 2018 RTA Transportation Breakfast will take place at The Umstead Hotel and Spa on July 27, and the deadline to register is next Friday, July 20. We are pleased to welcome the senior executive of global network strategy for RDU Airport’s largest air carrier, who will discuss Delta Air Lines’ ongoing focus city initiative for Raleigh-Durham. Reserve your seats now if you have not already done so. Remember, you have tickets included with your RTA membership, but the event may sell out.
Raleigh named best city in America for drivers
WalletHub has named our capital city as the top city for drivers in America, using factors such as average gas prices, annual hours of traffic delays, and even auto repair shops per capita. While the regional business community can’t impact the number of auto repair shops, we can take pride in our leadership in advancing various priorities that have helped reduce our traffic delays in Raleigh and the entire Triangle. Durham also made the top 10 in this list.
Let’s make a Capital improvement in Raleigh
The City of Raleigh is undertaking a very important initiative – “Capital Boulevard North” – which will look at reimagining US 1/Capital Blvd. between I-440 and I-540. Currently, Capital doesn’t really work well for any mobility or land use objective, and with increasing demands on the corridor as we grow we need a new solution for this boulevard of regional and indeed statewide importance. We look forward to engaging on this initiative with the City and NCDOT; RTA Leadership Team member WSP is providing support for the study. You can begin engaging now by filling out this survey by Monday to offer your initial thoughts on the corridor.
Thank you for your investment in regional business leadership on transportation!
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
