Construction for upcoming part-time on-ramp signals for 540 begins
North Carolina’s first on-ramp signals will be operational later this year at several interchanges in north Raleigh to improve traffic flow on I-540 towards RTP. This weekend, construction begins for a future on-ramp signal on Leesville Road. RTA has supported on-ramp signals as a low-cost congestion relief solution for several years, originally explored through the I-40 Regional Partnership coordinated by RTA in coordination with NCDOT.
New Triangle Expressway interchange opens in Holly Springs
The new Veridea Parkway interchange opened this week in Holly Springs providing a direct connection to the 540/Triangle Expressway for residents of southwestern Wake County. A new Triangle Expressway interchange will also be constructed in Cary next year, extending the Morrisville Parkway to the turnpike.
Updated Durham, Orange transit plans released
Orange and Durham Counties have updated their bus and rail investment plans. Public meetings will be held over the next few weeks with comments accepted until April 21.
