This weekly update of the RTA business coalition is earlier than usual as we will be in Boston this week for the Raleigh Chamber’s Inter-City Visit. Learn about the trip and more in the brief below.
Fortify project is 75% complete
By this summer, traffic shifts in the I-40 Fortify project area will be complete and drivers will travel on newly rebuilt lanes on I-40 from U.S. 1/64 to the I-40/I-440/ U.S. 64 interchange. Work will continue on the outside lanes without additional disruption to traffic. Of course, the project isn’t over until it’s over – see travel time information in the work zone at FortifyNC.com.
What NC’s major airports have in common
I was pleased to moderate a panel at the NC Chamber’s annual Transportation Summit this afternoon with the leaders of our state’s four largest airports-Wilmington, Piedmont Triad, Raleigh-Durham, and Charlotte Douglas. Bottom line: these airports are vital economic engines for their respective regions and for North Carolina and are all facing challenges to fund airport infrastructure. See the conversation around this and other topics on Twitter via #MovingNC.
Follow us in Boston this week via #ICVLC17
The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce is holding their 2017 Inter-City Visit to Boston this Wednesday through Friday. I will moderate a transportation panel highlighting Go Boston 2030 – the city’s 15-year transportation plan which includes new rapid bus lines and commuter rail improvements. We’ll hear about Boston’s goals for accessibility, safety, and reliability, as well as new technology integration. Follow #ICVLC17, @RaleighChamber, and @RTATriangle for trip highlights and takeaways.
Organized business leadership on transportation continues to provide our market with a competitive mobility advantage. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Let’s get moving,
