The RTA business coalition coordinates meetings and forums with key regional partners to advance mobility priorities.

This page highlights several RTA-led regional partnership efforts between the public and private sectors.

Active and ongoing initiatives:

Triangle Mobility Action Partnership (Tri-MAP) Forum

RTA leads quarterly Triangle Mobility Action Partnership (Tri-MAP) meetings, which serve as an ongoing forum to increase understanding and build consensus among elected officials, transportation partners and the regional business community regarding key challenges.

I-40 Regional Partnership Initiative

RTA coordinates the annual meeting of the I-40 Regional Partnership in concert with the NC Department of Transportation and other local, regional, statewide, and federal partners to provide an ongoing focus on I-40 and its viability for travel and commerce.

Multimodal 54 Initiative

RTA and GoTriangle jointly coordinate the Multimodal 54 initiative, hosted by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, to help identify immediate and longer-term opportunities to enhance the multimodal performance of portions of the NC 54 corridor.

RTA Leadership Briefings and Tours

RTA has conducted visits to other communities in the U.S. since 2005. Invariably involving attendance and guidance from key public and private sector partners from our region, these visits have provided valuable insights as we discover and explore ways to improve our mobility future. The 2017 RTA tour is to Richmond, Virginia.

Selected previous partnership initiatives:

Bus On Shoulder System (BOSS) Action Team

RTA coordinated the Bus on Shoulder System action team in cooperation with GoTriangle and NCDOT to advance NC’s first Bus on Shoulder pilot in the Triangle region. The BOSS pilot team was an effort of the I-40 Regional Partnership.
