Roger is president and CEO of Forge Communications, a Raleigh-based firm that specializes in reputation design and management. Roger began his consulting career in 1985 when he joined Epley Associates, Inc., one of the Southeast’s leading public relations firms. Over the years, he has managed a wide array of strategic communication programs for a broad range of regional, national and international clients across dozens of industries.

Before co-founding Forge Communications in late 2009, Roger served as vice president and senior vice president of client services at Epley Associates, Inc. and The Catevo Group. His specialties include strategic planning, reputation management, crisis communications, issues management, media/social media planning and execution, research, employee/community relations, branding and spokesperson training.

Roger has helped a range of public- and private-sector organizations in myriad industries manage a wide array of complex issues and projects. His clients have included BB&T, Carolinas HealthCare System, Colonial Pipeline, GE, GSK, PPD, QuintilesIMS, the N.C. Foundation for Advanced Health Programs, the N.C. Institute of Medicine, the N.C. Turnpike Authority, Anderson Automotive, Meredith College, Novo Nordisk, Novozymes and Waste Industries. He has worked extensively with healthcare, biotechnology, finance, pharmaceutical, energy, environmental, chemical, insurance and transportation organizations as well as state agencies, professional groups, museums and community colleges.

Roger was a visiting instructor in the Department of Communication Studies at North Carolina State University and is a frequent guest speaker at local and national conferences and forums. He earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Speech Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Roger is a steering committee member of and strategic communication counsel to the Regional Transportation Alliance and has served on the boards of several local and state organizations. An accredited member of PRSA, Roger serves on the Executive Committee of the Counselors Academy of PRSA and is past president of the Raleigh Public Relations Society.

A professional guitarist, Roger performs regularly in the region and has produced two CDs. With a daughter at Davidson College, Roger lives in North Raleigh with his wife, two cats and an overly excitable Golden Retriever.
